Welcome to the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center.
In 1926, the Phoenix Union Colored High School opened as the segregated High School for African-Americans living in Phoenix, Arizona.
Today, The George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center is a national historic site dedicated to the collection, documentation, preservation, study, and dissemination of the history and culture of African-Americans in Arizona.
Affectionately known as “The Carver Museum”, we carry out its mission through exhibitions, archives, and community education programs designed to explore the role of African-Americans in shaping the history of Arizona.
